Yesterday marked a truly significant and memorable occasion in the Bradway Bowling and Snooker Club calendar, as we proudly hosted our much-anticipated annual Cunningham Cup Internal Bowls Competition. This event has become a cornerstone of our club's year, bringing together members in a spirited display of skill, sportsmanship, and community spirit. The competition was not only a showcase of impressive bowling talent, but it also served a much greater purpose — supporting a cause close to many of our hearts.
Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of everyone involved, we are delighted to announce that we raised over £1,000for The Brain Tumour Charity, an organisation doing vital work in research, awareness, and support for those affected by brain tumours. The success of this fundraising effort is a testament to the kindness and commitment of our club members, supporters, and everyone who took part in the day’s activities. It was truly heartening to see so many people come together in support of such an important cause.
As for the competition itself, congratulations are most certainly in order. A huge well done to Trevor and Lee, who emerged as the overall winners of the Cunningham Cup, demonstrating remarkable consistency, teamwork, and calm under pressure. They played outstanding bowls throughout the tournament and thoroughly earned their place at the top.
Commiserations, but also great respect, go to Chris and Paul, who were worthy runners-up and gave a strong account of themselves in the final. Recognition must also go to our losing semi-finalists — Dave and Jim, and Marcus and Colin— who each made it through tough rounds and can be proud of their performances.
All in all, it was a fantastic day for the club, filled with competitive spirit, generosity, and community pride — the very essence of what Bradway Bowling and Snooker Club stands for.
